What is...
Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction is an ancient Christian form of soul care in which the directee (that's you!) and the director (that's me!) are open to and seeking God’s presence and direction.
Deepen your relationship with the Triune God
Improve a relationship with God that feels hindered
Learn to recognize Jesus’ presence in your past experiences.
See your spiritual growth and recognize God’s activity in your life.
A Spiritual Director?
"Director" might be a scary word for some who have come from strict, authoritarian, or repressive backgrounds. Though the term director is used to describe the position, there is no authority imbued by the term. Nor is a spiritual director a "mediator" between you and God--that's Jesus' position! I use open, non-anxious, non-judgmental presence; active listening skills; and spiritual practices (such as prayer, worship, scripture, etc.) to help foster your openness to God and deepen your relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Together with God, you are responsible for your emotions, choices, growth, actions, etc. You will be encouraged to read books, focus on scripture and other spiritual practice, and follow through with personal growth assignments as we journey together. Use the contact form at bottom to receive more in-depth information on what a session looks like.
Spiritual Direction is NOT
A substitute for medical or mental health care
a way to be “fixed” or to “fix” your problems in a one-time meeting
employment advice or life coaching
therapy or counseling
About Me
Hi! My name is Colette Freeman. I'm particularly passionate about spiritual direction because this is what God made me for. I love partnering with God on behalf of another. I have seen people moving forward in places they were stuck, beginning to feel loved by God when they didn’t think they’d ever feel it and gaining new insight into themselves and how God wants them to grow and transform. I would love to help you learn to be still so so you can know He is God and experience that He is Love.
